Wertstofftoilette at Labör (ogmo AG)

Along with the Labör, a new circular economy laboratory in Örlikon, the WT (Wertstofftoilette) — a modular, resource-producing toilet — was introduced in 2025.

In a first step, cabin number one was build, containing the all-gender urinal Urin*all as a frontend. The heart of the semi-public mobile toilet is the Nutrient Harvester from ogmo, an on-site urine treatment and resource recovery technology. The unit of the size of an Ikea shelf stabilizes the urine and then reduces the volume by 95%, producing a valuable fertilizer concentrate on-site and reducing collection service intervals by 20 times.

Thanks to our design partner Cerca, the interior of the restroom communicates with the outside world through the exterior façade. Our colleagues from Vuna contributed with their extensive knowledge in nature based sanitation systems.

By early 2026, the time had come to build the second cabin. The goal was to install an accessible sit-down toilet in addition to the urinal. The decision was made to use an Ecodomeo conveyor belt toilet made of recycled plastic and metal. This toilet allows urine to be separated from feces, enabling it to be fed into the Nutrient Harvester for recycling. A new vermicomposting system was specifically designed and installed for the recycling of feces.
